When we arrived at Rosemoor there was a local Plantmans group sale on, wasn't that a shame, all those plants just needing a home to go to, pity I was limited by being on holiday. Two clematis and a few rock plants later, well I still had to carry them around the garden.

We were told when we arrived that Lady Anne's garden was closed to the public because of the Foot & Mouth crisis so I was a bit disappointed that I was not going to see the parts I had seen on a programme on TV a few months before.

The Model Gardens. They look good now in early April, I would love to see these later in the year when the plants have softened the edges of the paving and the trees are in full leaf.

The Cottage Garden looks full now, I wonder how crowded it looks at the height of summer, there was a honeysuckle in flower by the cottage door whose scent was wafting across this garden.

Looking up towards the Rock Gully that leads to Lady Anne's garden. This is the feature that was being constructed on the TV program I mentioned at the top of the page.

Looking down towards the bog garden and lake. As you can see it was a very grey day in Devon and drizzling on and off. This looks like a good place to play Pooh Sticks.

The beds in the Winter Garden were filled with hellebores, mahonias, camellias etc. which led to a covered seating area where you could sit and watch the world go by.

And after you have rested, you turn the corner and.....

Isn't it beautiful! Well now I know why the rhododendrons are not in flower, they are waiting for the spring to arrive.
