The Domes are massive, the glimpses you get from the drive into the car park do not prepare you for the sheer scale of the project or the size of the domes. This picture is taken from the viewing platform at the entrance, if you go, make sure you have got comfortable shoes on. |
And this is the view back up towards the entrance and exit, because they are still in the process of planting parts of area we decided that we were only going to walk around the two domes. |
The Temperate Zone/Dome. This dome was good but like the landscaping outside the dome it needs a few more years to look its best. Everything at the Eden project is supposed to be recyclable which includes the still life. |
The giant vents needed to regulate the temperature, you needed your coat on near these. The shepherds hut in the foreground looks better built than the ones you see in the Med. |
It seems strange to see these growing in the ground and flowering this well in early April in England. |
The Tropical Dome. The banana boat that greets you as you enter the dome with its own motley crew. Is this some sort of warning about the rest of the dome? |
From one end to the other. These three pictures were taken from the highest point the visitor can get to in the dome and it is hot and humid up here. |
The white that you can just see in the foreground is part of a waterfall that you can hear the noise from while you are walking round but cannot see where it comes from until you are nearly beside it. Most people stop and rest close to it so they can be cooled down by the spray it gives off as it crashes down the man made mini mountain. The second picture is the lower part of the waterfall. Can I have one of these in my garden? |
The pool in the middle of the picture is where the torrent of water flows to but the water in the pool laps gently against the beach giving no warning of the cascade you will eventually see. |
I didn't know Harrod's had a place round here? I wonder what they would charge for an iced lemonade. Its getting hot and sticky. |
It's a jungle out there, you could be lost for days on end. The dome is divded into areas showing what they grow there, I think some of these are rubber trees. |
Where did all these people suddenly appear from? They must have been hiding in the trees. |
We've been told that the bee has got it's wings now but it's still has not got enough hours flying to be allowed out on its own. |
The horse is made from driftwood. It is one of several sculptures that greet you as you enter the Eden Project but I took this picture on the way out wishing that the horse would give me a lift to the car park. |
